SPOP's mission is to enhance the quality of life of older adults and to foster their independent living through the delivery of comprehensive mental health and supportive services, advocacy and education.
Description
SPOP is a non-profit community-based mental health center serving older adults in Manhattan. Programs include a mental health clinic, bereavement support (offered free of charge), education & training, information & referral services, and a PROS/Personalized Recovery Oriented Services program for adults with severe mental illness.
SPOP works to improve the overall health and well-being of older adults, with an objective of reducing demand on the health care system. The agency strives to reduce barriers to mental health treatment, including stigma, language and travel to distant neighborhoods.
