Other Ways to Give
VolunteerMatch is the leading nonprofit focused exclusively on connecting good people and good causes - and we need your help to keep doing just that! We offer a variety of ways for you to support the power of volunteering to enrich our lives and the world around us.
Donate by Mail or Phone
Don't want to donate online? You can mail in your donation:

Or make a donation over the phone:
Gifts in Honor or Memory of Someone Special
When you make a donation to VolunteerMatch, you can choose to make that gift in honor of or in memory of anyone you choose. This is a meaningful way to pay tribute to someone while supporting our mission to connect good people and good causes, and allows you to remember a loved one's life, celebrate a special occasion or recognize your favorite volunteer. When you make a donation to VolunteerMatch, you'll be asked as part of the check-out process whether your gift is in honor or memory of someone. If it is, we can send a note to the person or family indicated notifying them of your thoughtful donation but not revealing the amount of the donation.
Match Your Gift
Does your employer have a matching gift program? Many employers offer matching gift programs to encourage employees to contribute to charitable organizations. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift! To find out if your employer offers matching donations, check with the human resources or corporate giving personnel at your office.
When you shop with your favorite online retailers, you can direct a percentage of your purchases to VolunteerMatch. If you're shopping online anyway, why not make it benefit your favorite volunteer-matching service? Visit one of our partners:
At iGive you can make purchases from over 650 stores like Barnes & Noble, Anne Taylor, Best Buy, and PETCO, to name a few. Up to 26% of each purchase is donated to VolunteerMatch. It's FREE, and there are no invisible costs or tricky obligations. Register and start shopping now.
You can purchase electronics, books, toys anything you can get through Amazon.com and contribute dollars to VolunteerMatch by purchasing from alonovo.com, the "intelligent marketplace" that helps you shop responsibly. Alonovo.com gives ratings on companies' environmental, labor and other practices so you can spend your money at firms most aligned with your values. Shop your values now.

Recycle Your Cell Phone
VolunteerMatch can benefit when you recycle your old cell phone. We've partnered with the Wireless Alliance who collects, resells and recycles cellular equipment. All equipment is repurposed in a zero waste, environmentally-conscious manner. We make it simple to send in your used cell phones for recycling: If you are ready to donate your phone(s) just fill out VolunteerMatch's Cell Phone Recycling Form. If you want to collect phones on an ongoing basis or are a wireless retailer/recycler, please contact us via email or call 866-366-5791 to request a cell phone collection kit. Thank you for recycling!
Buy & Sell on eBay
Host your own online auction on eBay Giving Works and donate a percentage of your sale (or all of it!) to VolunteerMatch. All you need to do is register, then list your items for sale on eBay. (When you get to the "Pictures & Details" section of your listing, click the "Add" link in the area titled "Donate percentage of sale.") Your items will automatically appear with the eBay Giving Works icon, and buyers can see that you are auctioning the item on behalf of VolunteerMatch. Buy or sell now!
Giving a gift of publicly traded stock that has increased in value and that you have owned for more than one year may provide greater tax benefits than giving cash. Your charitable income tax deduction is equal to the fair market value of the stock and you avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in the current value over the original cost of the stock. You may also save by not incurring brokerage fees because you are transferring ownership rather than selling the stock. Contact your tax advisor for more information.
To transfer your securities to VolunteerMatch, first advise VolunteerMatch that you will be making the donation; we do not receive any information about you from your broker, and in order to properly acknowledge your gift we only need to know the type of stock and number of shares you are donating.
If you'd like to make a gift of securities, contact VolunteerMatch's financial advisor, Jenny Yun, at Smith Barney (415-984-6882) and provide her the following information:
Account # 5464371813471
Account Name: VolunteerMatch
Remember VolunteerMatch in Your Will or Trust
Planned giving incorporates your charitable gift with your overall financial, tax, and estate planning goals to maximize benefits to both you and VolunteerMatch. There can also be significant tax advantages for donating to a 501(c)(3) organization. Through a bequest, you may perpetuate your current level of giving or make a major gift that might not otherwise be possible (for instance, you may need to retain liquidity during your lifetime). This type of gift can provide you with comfort in knowing that your generosity will extend beyond your lifetime.
Because this is such an important decision for you, we encourage you to contact us to discuss your options before making a commitment. We would also be happy to speak to your representative, such as a lawyer or financial advisor. It is highly recommended that you consult with your own tax or legal advisors prior to making a planned gift.
Donate from Your IRA
If you own an IRA and are age 70 1/2 or over you can directly transfer, tax-free, up to $100,000 to VolunteerMatch. Donations from SIMPLE IRAs and Simplified Employee Pension (SEP) plans are not eligible. Amounts so transferred are not taxable and no deduction is available for the amount given to the charity. Please email us for more information on this way to give.
