Mission Statement
Bicycling In Greensboro (BIG) is helping to transform the greater Greensboro area into a more bike friendly community.
Description
BIG operates the Changing Gears program which provides under-served populations, particularly those struggling financially, the opportunity to receive a bike. Providing bikes to those in need in our community helps improve recipients health, enables them to access employment opportunities, and improves their quality of life.
BIG facilitates bike safety courses for the community. BIG hosts a number of community events throughout the year including Open Streets during bike month, the annual Ride of Silence, and the Apple Pie Ride fundraiser.
Finally, BIG plays a vital role in influencing future planning initiatives, like the inclusion of bike facilities, by participating in public meetings, speaking to the Transportation Advisory Committee, and service on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.
