Mission Statement

Caring For Creatures is a not-for-profit foundation dedicated to caring for homeless animals and enhancing the human-animal bond by:

-Providing a safe and healthy environment in which to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abandoned, neglected, abused, or otherwise homeless dogs and cats;

-Creating a lifetime home, if necessary, for animals that are elderly, disabled, and/or have a chronic condition requiring specialized care, and;

-Promoting programs and policies that will help to stem the number of animals entering care facilities through education and awareness, promotion of spaying and neutering, and community involvement.

Description

Caring For Creatures is located on 157 beautiful and secluded acres in Palmyra, VA. Any any given time, we have approximately 200 animals in residence.

Each animal who comes to CFC is treated as an individual. The diets, medical care, and training or re-training are tailored for their individual needs. We take the responsibility of placing our animals into loving homes very seriously and it is always our goal to match our animals with the most compatible homes. If an animal is not adopted, we offer companionship and high-quality care for as long as needed.

In addition to our care of the animals in residence, CFC is also dedicated to helping the humans "behind" the animals. Behind every unwanted litter, every neglected, abused or abandoned animal, there is a human who has made an uneducated or misguided choice. By choosing to also help the humans behind the animals, we will, over time, make a positive difference in how these individuals choose to relate with and care for future animal companions.
