The OA5K is a non profit fiscally sponsored charitable organization that aims to heal their community ravaged by the Opioid Epidemic. By teaching drug prevention, coping skills, and self respect, we will prepare our youth for the onslaught of readily available opioid drugs. Our group targets individuals aged 13-25 in hopes of getting to them before they have a chance to try opioid drugs for the first time.
Our primary source of education is through the 5K event that we will host annually in mid-May. At the event there will be games, interactive displays, and presentations to teach the opioid abuse lessons.
As of now, we are under funded and in dire need of sponsorships. Volunteering for us would mean writing hand written letters to potential donors and making connections with people in big places. Also, we will need you to help with various tasks including but not limited to fundraising, answering emails, DIY projects to sell for funds, working on the event day, attending other fairs/events/parties, and filling out sponsorship applications.
We just recently received our fiscal sponsorship through an awesome non-profit called Mission Earth aka Sponsor Inc. This makes us officially a tax exempt organization whose donors can claim their donations during tax season.
