Mission Statement

With a primary commitment to immigrants Latin America, the SED Center provides educational programs for children, their families, and adults in the Washington metropolitan area that help them develop the skills necessary to lead productive lives in the United States.

Description

Volunteers contribute to the development and enhancement of the Center's community programs. They serve as teacher-aides in the Preschool and English-as-a-second language (ESL) programs. Additionally, they help with funding research, proposal writing, pubic relations, and various administrative duties. Moreover, through the participation of volunteers, SED Center immigrant students receive a greater and more personalized exposure to the English language and to U.S. culture. Volunteers receive training for the program in which their are placed, and also learn about Hispanic culture.
