Mission Statement

The Humane Society at Lakewood Ranch, (HSLWR) located in Lakewood Ranch, FL is a non-profit animal rescue and shelter organization that provides assistance and care for at-risk animals in Manatee and Sarasota counties. HSLWR will help to rescue and save thousands of animals in the coming years and assist their new adopted families/owners in being responsible and caring for them. HSLWR is committed to helping its communities become No Kill, where all adoptable animals find a home.

Description

HSLWR offers a safe environment and shelter for companion animals including medical care, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, micro-chipping, by loving and caring individuals, while with us and until we can adopt them into a new suitable home. Animals will stay with us as long as it takes to find them a new home

What a great experience to work with the animals, besides handling the animals, I really enjoyed meeting people of all ages on my dog care shifts. The Humane Society at Lakewood Ranch is a small shelter that does big things. There are many opportunities to get involved besides cat or dog handling that interested me. Very clean shelter with happy animals and friendly volunteers
