Mission Statement

The Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) harnesses the expertise of individuals over 50 who have the passion and commitment to direct their attention to issues impacting their region. Service Corps Members use their time and experience to give back and make a difference. They are leaders of change, offering vital resources to organizations, churches and schools that are at the heart of these struggling communities. Through their direct service among the materially poor, members enter the lived experience of others, showing respect for the dignity and equality of those they serve and serve with.

Description

IVC works in partnership with hundreds of community partner organizations. These nonprofit organizations provide IVC Service Corps Members with substantive work to serve individuals who have slipped through this country’s safety net. And hundreds of community organizations are on waiting lists to get an IVC corps member.

IVC corps members are supported in their Christian faith by IVC’s unique spiritual reflection program. Through their caring service and the relationships they build, members heal communities and create a more just society.

Great way to find a way to meaningfully serve, draw closer to God through service, and become part of a community of like-minded mature individuals who want to give back and make a difference with the skills and experiences of their lives. I have been in the Non-Profit world for over 17 years. I have seen the impact it has had not only on the beneficiaries but also to me a as a person. I honestly believe we owe our services to fellow humans and the feeling of impacting a life is one of most satisfying moments in one life.
