Mission Statement

Working in partnership with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), the 4 H National Mentoring Program supports the initiatives that assist in the development and maturity of community programs providing mentoring services to high-risk populations. The goal is to reduce juvenile delinquency, drug abuse, truancy, and other problems and high-risk behaviors. The program objective is to provide direct group mentoring services to under-served youth populations.

Description

Tech Wizards is a national youth mentoring program providing instruction in emerging technologies, with the goals of increasing life skills such as youth social competency, family relationships and academic success and workforce readiness. CSU Denver Extension 4-H houses Tech Wizards in the Denver area to provide community-based STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) education programs with a mentoring aspect to serve youth from populations underrepresented in the sciences and/or from under-resourced communities, equipping youth to reach their full potential. The program relies on mentors who lead classes, engaging youth interest in science and emerging technologies to encourage them to apply learning to their STEAM academic instruction and future goals.
