Since 2014, we've dedicated ourselves to providing a lifelong safe haven for animals saved from neglect or abandonment, enriching our community through education about animal welfare and the joy of the human-animal bond. The Role: As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will be the welcoming face and guiding hand for our volunteer force-the heart and soul of our sanctuary. Your role will be pivotal in orchestrating the volunteer efforts that help keep our sanctuary operational and our animals happy and healthy. Key Responsibilities: Recruitment & Training: Spearhead the recruitment of new volunteers. Organize and conduct orientation sessions to welcome and educate newcomers about our mission and their roles. Scheduling & Coordination: Manage the volunteer schedule to ensure all aspects of the sanctuary are adequately staffed, from animal care to event assistance. Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for all volunteer-related queries. Maintain regular communication, ensuring volunteers are informed, valued, and motivated. Event Management: Assist in planning and executing sanctuary events, ensuring volunteers are well-prepped and roles are clearly defined. Feedback & Improvement: Gather feedback from volunteers to continually enhance the volunteering experience and increase efficiency and effectiveness. Ideal Candidate: Passionate about animal welfare and community service. Strong organizational and leadership skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Experience in volunteer coordination or management preferred. Ability to handle multiple tasks and solve problems creatively. About Our Sanctuary: At Black Dawg Farm and Sanctuary, our mission is to provide a safe haven for farm animals who have been rescued from neglect, abuse, and abandonment. The Role: We’re looking for spirited and compassionate individuals to join our team as Farm Sanctuary Heroes! As a volunteer, you’ll help with daily care, cleaning, rehabilitation efforts, and creating an enriching environment for our furry and feathered residents. Your Responsibilities: Animal Care: Feed, water, and groom our residents. Assist in daily health checks to ensure all animals are thriving. Sanctuary Maintenance: Help maintain clean and safe living spaces, including barns, coops, and pastures. Education and Outreach: Participate in tours and workshops, sharing the stories of our residents with visitors and educating them about animal welfare. Event Support: Assist in organizing and running sanctuary events such as open days, fundraisers, and educational workshops. Gardening: Help tend our sanctuary gardens that provide fresh produce for our kitchen and enrichment for our animals. Who You Are: A big heart for animals and a commitment to animal welfare. Physically able to work outdoors and engage in manual labor. Reliable and can commit to a regular volunteer schedule. Able to commit to six or more months. Self-starter and self-directed. Friendly and enthusiastic, with good communication skills. Willing to learn and follow sanctuary protocols and procedures.
