Mission Statement

The mission of Desire to Aspire is to enrich the lives of girls and women through mentorship on a global scale. We believe that by teaching essential social-emotional learning skills, instilling the importance of social advocacy, and exposing them to diverse career paths and activities we can radically influence the future. We also serve our communities by providing educational resources and services necessary for girls and women to lead healthy lives, socially, emotionally, physically and economically.

Description

What does Desire to Aspire Curriculum teach youth?

Our developmental curriculum focuses on 6 pillars and 5 skills that we believe are essential to learn as a young lady. We are working on building a curriculum contains 30 weeks worth of instruction, tailored for the youths grade and developmental level. Our pillars are Higher Education, Sisterhood, Etiquette & Culture, Service & Leadership, Self-Esteem & Character, Positive Decision-Making. Our skills are Emotion Identification & Regulation, Effective Communication, Problem-Solving, Distress Tolerance.

Where Desire to Aspire is going?

Desire to Aspire plans on continuing to expand nationally and internationally. In addition to our growth in the youth mentoring sector, Desire to Aspire feels that it is also important to work with women, as they are often the foundation of the family and young girls we serve. We feel that to truly build strong girls, we must make sure that their natural role models (i.e. mothers, aunts, grandmothers) have all of the necessary resources to flourish and be great examples. We are working on pairing women with mentors, as well and creating a curriculum that will provide women with necessary skills, resources, and support to flourish no matter what stage of life.
