Since 2002 SCOSAG has provided thousands of hours of hands-on artistic education in the form of curriculum based classes, summer, winter, and spring break camps for children K-9th, adult classes, and community events at its historic building in Tower Grove Park.
SCOSAG is located in a nationally recognized landmark, The South Gate Lodge of Tower Grove Park. Built in 1888, this cozy "cottage castle" has seen 118 years of history pass through its doors. In the past, it has been living quarters for grounds keepers. More recently, for twenty-five years, it was the park office; and for the past 9 years it has been home to many young artists and their mentors. The South Gate Lodge offers countless discoveries as visitors peruse its interior and exterior decorative architecture and antique fixtures.
Mission Statement
It is the Mission of The South City Open Studio and Gallery to provide a safe and educational environment for children to explore the Arts and also to strengthen the ties within the St. Louis neighborhood, it's families and it's youth.
