Title: Board Member - Education Specialist Organization: Talented Girls in Action Overview: Talented Girls in Action is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young girls through education, mentorship, and leadership development. We are seeking an experienced individual with a background in higher education, such as a principal, district leader, or superintendent, to join our board of directors. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute expertise, guidance, and support to our organization as we strive to positively impact the lives of young girls. Responsibilities: Provide Strategic Guidance: Utilize your expertise in higher education to offer strategic guidance and input on the organization's educational initiatives, programs, and policies. Advocate for Educational Excellence: Advocate for educational excellence and equity, ensuring that our programs align with best practices and address the needs of diverse communities. Network and Partnerships: Leverage your professional network to establish partnerships, collaborations, and opportunities that enhance the organization's impact and reach within the education sector. Mentorship and Leadership Development: Support the development and implementation of mentorship and leadership development programs that empower girls to excel academically and pursue their aspirations. Governance and Oversight: Participate actively in board meetings, committees, and decision-making processes to provide oversight, ensure accountability, and uphold the organization's mission and values. Fundraising and Resource Development: Assist in fundraising efforts by identifying potential donors, sponsors, and funding opportunities within the education sector. Qualifications: Significant experience in higher education, preferably as a principal, district leader, superintendent, or equivalent role. Passion for empowering young girls through education and leadership development. Strong understanding of educational trends, challenges, and opportunities, particularly those affecting underserved communities. Excellent communication, collaboration, and networking skills. Ability to think strategically, problem-solve, and make informed decisions. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education. Previous board or governance experience is desirable but not required. Time Commitment: Regular attendance at board meetings (typically quarterly) and committee meetings as needed. Availability for occasional special events, fundraisers, or strategic planning sessions. Estimated time commitment: 5-10 hours per month. Volunteer Grant Writer - Position Description Position Title: Volunteer Grant Writer Organization: Talented Girls in Action (TGIA) Location: [Remote/Virtual or specify location if in-person] About Talented Girls in Action (TGIA): Talented Girls in Action is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and uplifting girls in low-income areas. Our mission is to provide girls with access to education, mentorship, and resources to help them develop their talents, achieve their goals, and become leaders in their communities. Position Overview: The Volunteer Grant Writer plays a critical role in supporting TGIA's mission by identifying and securing funding opportunities through grant applications. This position is ideal for an individual with excellent writing skills, a strong understanding of nonprofit grant writing, and a passion for empowering girls from diverse backgrounds. Key Responsibilities: Grant Research: Conduct in-depth research to identify potential grant opportunities from various foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with TGIA's mission and programs. Grant Writing: Prepare compelling grant proposals, applications, and fundraising materials to seek financial support for TGIA's programs and initiatives. Ensure that grant applications are submitted in a timely manner. Collaboration: Work closely with TGIA's leadership team and program managers to gather information, data, and insights necessary for grant applications. Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to enhance the quality of grant proposals. Grant Reporting: Assist in preparing grant progress reports and updates for funders as required by grant agreements. Grant Management: Keep track of grant applications, deadlines, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with grant funding regulations. Research and Stay Updated: Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant writing and fundraising for non-profit organizations. Continually seek opportunities for funding and partnerships.
