Mission Statement

Our Mission:

As a relationship-based ministry to, for and by women, we strive to lead women into a growing relationship with God and each other through Jesus Christ; to equip, encourage, support, teach and minister to the unique needs of women (Tit. 2:3-5), inspiring them to spiritual maturity so that they would make a difference in the lives of all they meet.

"And the Lord answered me and said: Write the vision and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie; though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry." (Hab. 2:2-3)

Our Vision
CWA, as a ministry and an expression of God's love, endeavors to be an environment where acceptance does not have to be achieved, but is automatically granted; a place where we exhibit submission to God's order in all our relationships and present opportunities to demonstrate the principles of God's Word to men and women (I Cor. 11:3, 10) while advancing God's kingdom through ministries that equip women to grow, serve and reach out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Description

In April of 1992, a long time passion became a vision and the vision birthed a reality. That reality was Christian Women In Action. While in West Point, Mississippi, Marsha Davidson met women involved in a women's ministry and shared her desire to be a part of a similar ministry. According to His plan, the Lord put the pieces together and the vision became clear. The pieces included a team which would guide the ministry and a structure that would remove barriers to operating in unity. CWA was born of the Holy Spirit as a ministry to women, for women.

CWA began as a fragile ministry and women were invited at the prompting of the Holy Spirit through the members. The first meeting was held in May, 1992 at the Northwestern Nursing Home. The Lord blessed beyond our expectations and CWA outgrew the Nursing Home meeting location. In January of 1993, the Lord literally opened doors and provided a new meeting place in a city operated community room. We're looking forward to our next meeting place which will be our own and a permanent home for CWA!

Over the years CWA met and explored many areas - AIDS awareness, bible study series and seminars. In response to rising concern about the family, in 1993 we began our "Building Our Family" series, an activity program to encourage and strengthen our families. A high point for CWA over the years has been our annual women's weekend retreat which has grown to be our annual "Advance".

From the beginning we established an ongoing prayer list, added monthly requests and rejoiced in the praise reports that allowed us to mark "answered". Over the years, the Lord through CWA, has strengthened, taught, healed, chastened, delivered and gifted the women who have been a part of CWA.

Through this we have seen the difference in our own lives, our homes and families, churches and communities. We've seen bondages broken and yokes destroyed by the awesome power of the Holy Spirit and yet, we believe this is only the beginning of what the Lord will do through CWA. We continue to believe that God will "do exceeding, abundantly above all that we could ask or think"for we are His vessels, the many facets of His precious jewel, CWA.....
