Mission Statement

The mission of SLO Maker Academy is to nurture, promote, and provide education of STEAM-based technical and artistic experience to adults and children in order to develop lifelong skills to promote creativity, jobs, and entrepreneurship.

Description

SLO Maker Academy is the offshoot of SLO MakerSpace , taking the Maker Prime curriculum started by the staff, and evolving it into a fully-fledged skill-training program for adults and kids. This education resource will be available to all Maker Spaces, Hacker Spaces, schools, and communities, as an open-source project. In addition, Maker Academy will be working with schools to bring STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education into classrooms, developing hands-on activities that dovetail into required curriculum and enhancing understanding of concepts.
