Mission Statement
Seeking to expand science, technology, engineering and math as a core curriculum to all primary schools in Liberia at no cost to Liberian families by initially introducing a proof of concept of the program for 4th -6th graders at the Buchanan Demonstration school in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
Description
Liberians in West Africa are looking for opportunities to avoid the
hardships that arise from low literacy, poor mathematic aptitude, and poor
technological skills. STEM curriculum is a gateway to fields in accounting,
engineering, graphic design, medicine, teaching, and other areas.
Wahjay - STEM has prepared a program for students at the Buchanan
Demonstration School for each student to develop practical & scientific
knowledge to create robots. Specifically, students will work hands-on in
teams to design, build, and program a VEX Robot while learning about
beginner level computer programming, math and engineering concepts.
Wahjay wants Liberian students to start dreaming if they haven't started,
and to have resources available to them to pursue those dreams they have.
