Mission Statement

Our mission is to foster the indie spirit by providing an annual festival for filmmakers, producers and audience members to expose them to indie films from around the world and showcase these films in unique venues in Old Town Winchester. We foster the indie spirit throughout the year with a week-long summer film camp for kids, a podcast with filmmakers and local screenings.

Description

Today, Skyline is simply a festival. A great little scrappy indie film festival that focuses on the exhibition and presentation of new, undistributed indie films in an awesome community. And the community is getting funky and the vibe is getting better. Slowly. But surely. The feel, the look, the appreciation and acceptance of art and performance in all its many forms reminds me of, now famous, awesome cities like Asheville and Wilmington, NC from years ago before they were the cultural destinations they are today. I am excited to live and work in Winchester and to see the young guard ease into positions of authority and become responsible for the positive changes that are sure to continue.

This community and its potential is why my family chooses to live in the City of Winchester. It’s why we shop in Old Town almost exclusively. It’s why we bought the Winchester Book Gallery and it’s why we founded the Skyline Indie Film Fest. It is also why we’re planning on building the festival to entertain our growing audience, to educate and facilitate filmmakers in the business and perhaps most importantly to foster and nurture young filmmakers here in our own community.
