Heartland is a no-kill animal shelter in Wheeling, Illinois dedicated to finding permanent, loving homes for the dogs and cats in our care. Since 2002, Heartland Animal Shelter has saved well over 14,000 lives and we will continue to be advocates for homeless pets until no more adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized. Heartland Animal Shelter is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Heartland will be hosting three signature events in 2024- Slumber Pawty, Walk of Love & the Golden Paw Gala! These events are not possible without the support of volunteer event committees that dedicate time each month-collaborating with Heartland staff-to plan and execute every aspect of these fundraising events. Collectively these events raised more than $155,000 to support Heartland's mission in 2023. Heartland is seeking 15-20 volunteers interested in animal rescue, event planning and fundraising to join our Signature Event Planning Committees. Event committee is led by and event chair and includes a group of planning committee members for each of our signature events. The general responsibilities of volunteer event planning committee includes the following: Interest in animal rescue with an eagerness to share Heartland Animal Shelter's mission and vision Work collaboratively with volunteers and Heartland employees to reach or exceed event fundraising goals Drive adherence to event budget and timeline Attend monthly planning committee meetings via video conference or in person Work on assigned tasks each month Ability to directly ask personal network and/or local businesses for cash and/or in-kind donations Strong organization and attention to detail Ability to remain positive and respectful working with others Ability or willingness to learn Google Drive to create, update and maintain documents related to event planning, organization and communication

I volunteer at Heartland Animal Shelter & it's a great place to volunteer. They always need more help so any time you could spare to take care of the animals would be greatly appreciated. Everyone there really cares about all the animals & do everything they can to find a forever home for the dogs & cats. It's clean & everyone I've encountered there is very nice.
