Mission Statement
The mission of the New Jersey Youth ChalleNGe Academy is to provide highly disciplined environment fostering academics, leadership development, physical training, and personal growth to educate and train unemployed youth who have ceased to attend high school. Located on the Joint Base MDL, this 17 ½ month program is structured in a military curriculum. We focus on academics, leadership, and development, physical training, and personal growth. The students gain a strong sense of community through responsible citizenship and outreach projects. Students with the desire and discipline develop self-management skills promoting prospects for a brighter future. At the end of the five months the cadets will have the opportunity to take the GED, and if they pass the exam they will receive their high school diploma.

As a mentor you will: serve as a positive role model and friend, motivate at-risk youth to change his or her life towards positive behavior and success, and help build the youth’s self-esteem.
