Mission Statement
Once safely resettled in the United States, refugees must find employment to become self-sufficient, but this task is not always easy, even if the refugees have college degrees from their country. The refugees involved with HCC speak English or are in ESL training and have the proper accreditation or are in the process of reaccreditation. We desire to pair our refugees with experts in their fields to aide professional development and employment opportunities. The refugees already have the degrees, transcripts and evaluations; now they need guidance and employment opportunities so that they can successfully provide for themselves and their families.
Description
Houston Community College (HCC) Refugee Program works to provide refugees access to the tools and people key to adjusting and becoming self-sufficient in the United States. We help professional refugees from countries like Iraq, Cuba, Eritrea Afghanistan, and Ethiopia with further education, reaccreditation, and employment.
