Peninsula Foster Grandparents Program

Foster Grandparent volunteers strengthen communities by providing services that build positive relationships across generations. They serve in community organizations such as schools, Faith-based Daycare centers, and Head Start programs as well as detention and community centers throughout the Peninsula.

In return for their service, Foster Grandparents receive an hourly, tax-free stipend *, physical examination and transportation reimbursement*, accidental and liability insurance*, and monthly recognition.

Mission Statement

The Peninsula Foster Grandparent Program offers individuals age 60 and older an opportunity to serve as mentors, tutors, and loving caregivers for children in our community with special and exceptional needs. Their personal attention helps our young people mature, gain confidence, and become full and productive members of society. The Peninsula Foster Grandparent Program is sponsored locally by and serves the Cities of Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg and the Counties of York and James City.
