Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation of USA

Description

This organization is working with Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation of India and other NGOs to reach various Tribal and Rural villages of India to educate the children and also educate the communities for healthcare, development and empowerment.

The procedure is to establish relationship with the villagers and find a local 8th or 9th grader youth with their help. This person is trained to becomes a teacher. This non formal education is given under the roof of the house or under a tree. The 3 hours education every day for 6 days icludes 30 minutes of Math, 30 minutes of Language, Hindi and English aphabets, exercises, local Folk stories, games, moral stories and apllied science with local resources.

This organization makes communities in USA aware of the work and also reaches out for fund raising and volunteer support. We request volunteers to take the brochures and DVD's to the prospective supporters and organizations and corporations to explanin about the work. One major request we do is to visit Ekal schools when vsiting India. This has created lot of interest in the Indo-American communities.
