Collection/Donation of stuffed animals: Coming into a hospital can be scary for a child to help comfort them, we are looking for new (with tags still on) stuffed animals that we can hand out to them when they come into the Hospital as an inpatient, or through the emergency room or day surgery. This is a great opportunity for schools, organizations and businesses to do a stuffed animal drive or for individuals to donate some. We are looking for volunteers who love to do lots of walking and would like to interact with patients and visitors. Tasks include: Greet visitors/patients to the hospital Assist in wayfinding/transporting them to and from their destination Errand running Delivery of flowers Locating wheelchairs Assist with kiosk checkin This is perfect for the person who likes to walk for exercise and provide a wonderful service to our customers. A variety of opportunities available Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Some weekend opportunities as well. We do ask that you make a regular weekly commitment. Is your doggy a certified therapy dog? We are looking for Certified therapy dogs and handlers to provide visits to our patients and staff. Handler and Dog must complete and maintain certification from either pet partners or therapy dogs international. Handler would also need to complete the volunteer requirements - application and orientation process; background checks and associate health requirements. Other documentation needed would include the dog's most recent vet visit - up to date vaccination records - and negative stool sample results Volunteer Handlers/Dogs are assigned to either an inpatient unit or outpatient department to visit with patients, families and staff of that area.
