One Less

One Less has deep roots on Johns Island, South Carolina . The family behind the organization has been giving back to the community since the 1980’s. While working in the tomato fields on the island as a migrant picker, the Founder of One Less distributed food donated by local churches to other migrant families. Now the third generation of that family continues the mission of giving hope to individuals in their time of need. Volunteers (some are bilingual) deliver the food boxes of cereal, bread, milk, canned goods and fresh produce to families or to central pick up locations once a month. Information on preparing healthy meals is also provided. The food to be distributed is donated or purchased locally as needed by One Less. One Less provides much needed food and also the opportunity to inform families of other resources in the community (churches, medical clinics, etc.)
