Mission Statement

The Concho Valley Council of Governments is a voluntary organization of local governments to foster a cooperative effort in resolving problems, policies, and plans that are common and regional.

Description

Calling all Warm-hearted individuals!

Thank you for your interest in the Volunteer Ombudsman Program. I am looking forward to the possibility of working with you to advocate on behalf of residents in long term care (LTC) facilities.

When an individual enters a nursing facility, they do not lose any of the rights they had when they lived in the community; they have only changed an address. Sadly most people fail to be aware of, understand or know how to secure and maintain their rights as a resident of an LTC facility. This can and has been changed through the dedicated efforts of certified volunteer ombudsmen.

When residents enter a LTC facility, they are sick and frail, may not have family or friends to assist them and are in a totally different environment than where they are used to living.

The Certified Volunteer Ombudsman is an advocate who assists residents and families in identifying and resolving complaints and issues concerning the health, safety, welfare, quality of life and rights of residents in LTC facilities. You schedule your visits at your convenience.

Who can Volunteer? You Can! Volunteers need to be 18 years old or older and be able to complete the free internship. We provide training and any support you may need after becoming certified.
