The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases.

Description

The Arthritis Foundation is the only volunteer health agency in Michigan providing for education, research and improved treatment for the 100+ forms of arthritis. Through arthritis awareness programs, scientific research, public and professional education, and various other community services, the Arthritis Foundation is the place for Michigan residents to turn for help with arthritis. The first local chapter of the Arthritis Foundation was formed at The University of Michigan in 1948. Today, our mission is as important as ever as we continue to combat the nation''s --and our State''s -- #1 cause of disability.

There really wasn't much for me to do when I volunteered. It was a lot of standing around and waiting to be told what needs to be done, and it was really boring. There wasn't much interaction with the walk participants. It just wasn't a good fit for what I want to do.
