Anytown Arizona

As a catalyst and facilitator of social change, Anytown Arizona provides youth leadership development programs focusing on diversity awareness, social justice, and personal empowerment. Anytown Arizona recognizes that when an individual is empowered and committed to becoming more inclusive, more understanding and
more active in improving the well-being of themselves and others, they begin to foster these ideals among their peers and in their communities.

The results of focused dialogue and experiential learning are self-reflective leaders with a consciousness of diversity
issues, an increase in communication and
respect between different groups and
individuals, and ultimately, more peaceful
communities where hatred and bigotry
cannot take root.

Mission Statement

Anytown Arizona develops leaders who, in turn,
strengthen their communities. We fulfill this mission by guiding individuals to address the social issues that shape their everyday interactions.

I was sponsored by American Legion Post 41 located in Phoenix, on 2nd Avenue, just east of Grant Park. The workshops were incredible in both their content or message and there impact on my life. It was and remains a life changing experience for me. Rabbi Plotkin is a kind soul I remember well, and I apologize for not being able to recall the names of the Quakers, Protestants, and other religions who were ably represented by the volunteers. The runs through the mountains, the fireside songs, all things I could only have experienced through the charity of the American Legion Post 41 members and by incredible content of the messages volunteers communicated to all students. I encourage anyone to help make this program accessible to students and provide an opportunity to foster greater understanding between different religious groups, different socio-economic classes and young adults still being formed.
