A New Leaf believes in helping those in great need of shelter, food, and empathy. To ensure the success of this program, the East Valley Men’s Center is looking for volunteers eager to contribute towards aiding those in need. As volunteers, you will be helping program staff with processing residents through the proper protocols, while also maintaining a safe and clean environment. In turn, volunteers can pick-up new skills and connect with diverse individuals. Our staff will be there to provide you with the training and support necessary to contribute towards the betterment of EVMC’s clientele. What You Will Do Distribute meals as appropriate and manage "basic needs" store Support kitchen stocking needs Utilize entry/exit protocols to monitor residents as they check in and out of the shelter Assist with providing communications and directions to visitors when they enter the shelter Clean, sanitize, and organize the check-in and lobby areas Complete all assigned tasks on the shift list Answer and route phone calls Time Commitment Minimum hours per month: 8 hours Minimum number of months: 6 months We have various shifts based on program needs, including some weekends and evenings. To ensure the success of this program, the Administrative Office is looking for volunteers eager to contribute towards aiding the organization to effectively function at its best for the community. As a volunteer you will be assisting in-office tasks, clerical work, and front desk management that will help free up staff to focus on larger projects and take on additional tasks related to their role. What You Will Do Assist with clerical work such as answering phones, making copies, mailing invoices and checks, and filing paperwork as needed. Help coordinate food orders, organize event planning tasks, and keep the front desk organized. Maintain an updated inventory of office and first aid supplies. Interact and engage with clients as needed and communicate with staff about office needs. Participate and successfully complete all required trainings A New Leaf deems Adhere to codes of conduct and standards as specified in Volunteer Handbook Always maintain standards of confidentiality and professionalism Additional tasks may be requested as per program needs. Time Commitment Minimum hours per week: 8 hours Minimum number of months: 6 months Requirements Good communication (written and verbal), listening, and organizational skills Must feel comfortable using computers, taking and making phone calls, and managing email correspondence Strong competence navigating databases and software programs like Microsoft Office, Google, Adobe, etc. Photo ID Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card & DES Central Registry Background Check necessary. A New Leaf is a 501(c)3 non-profit human service agency that has been bringing hope and new beginnings to individuals and families in the Valley of the Sun for 50 years. By working with people to overcome and resolve the obstacles that lead to their homelessness, domestic violence or behavioral health obstacles, our agency gives them the opportunity to Turn Over a New Leaf.
