Mission Statement

The Greater Philadelphia Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs was founded in 2009 to help the NAWBO Greater Philadelphia Chapter provide educational, leadership, and research opportunities for both emerging entrepreneurs and established women entrepreneurs. Our mission is to increase business growth in the Greater Philadelphia region and create new jobs.

Description

The Foundation offers programming that encourages integrity, excellence, civic engagement and creative collaboration. There are currently three programs sponsored by the Foundation:

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a year-long program that teaches middle and high school students how to start and run their own REAL businesses. YEA! was developed at the University of Rochester in 2004 with the support of a grant from the Kauffman Foundation. The Greater Philadelphia Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs is excited to be introducing YEA! to the Greater Philadelphia Community!

Another program is the ATHENAPowerLink NAWBO Delaware Valley Program. This program offers women-owned businesses (2+ years in business) the opportunity to connect with--and receive advice and support from a panel of highly skilled, volunteer advisors, for the period of one year--at no cost. Business owners learn how to develop networks, access capital and implement best practices. Learn more about the ATHENAPowerLink Program.

The last program is a business symposium aimed at educating women and minorities on diversity opportunities - getting certified, utilizing the certification. creating relationships with organizations purchasing those diversity 'spends'.
