Elara Caring, one of the nation's largest providers of home-based and hospice care, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life companionship to local hospice patients and their families and support for healthcare workers. Bereavement volunteering includes: Writing sympathy cards Creating bereavement guides Assembling grief support packets Keepsake projects for remembrance General office assistance for the bereavement department And much more! Current shifts are on Tuesday from 1:15-3:45 PM and Wednesdays from 9-11:30 AM, however we can be flexible with moving shifts to meet everyone's schedule. Our volunteer opportunities take place at our office location in Des Plaines, IL. The onboarding process includes a background check and fingerprinting to maintain compliance with the Illinois Department of Public Health. A hospice volunteer must be 14 years old to participate according to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines. Make a real different in someone’s life! Elara Caring Hospice, a leading care provider in the Midwest, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families. Elara Caring Hospice is looking for Companion Volunteers who will visit patients in local nursing facilities or in private homes. The Companion Volunteer will provide companionship, play cards/games, watch TV, take the patient out into the garden area for fresh air, read to the patient, etc. There is no physical care involved. Hours are very flexible, weekdays, evenings or weekends. Typically we ask that you visit your assigned patient 1-2 hours per week or offer 1-2 hours per week or work in the office.
