Mission Statement


The Cedar Hill Action Team (CHAT) is an initiative formed by service-hearted citizens of Cedar Hill, Texas and its surrounding communities.

Cedar Hill Community Action Team (C.H.A.T) is committed to determining and providing for the needs of the citizens of Cedar Hill by partnering with the city, police department, school district, local, state, and national service organizations to help strengthen families, and impact young lives by fostering growth, creating leaders, and empowering lives.

Description


Teachers’ Closet - CHAT provides free school supplies to teachers in CHISD where approximately 79% percent of the students are on the free or reduced lunch program.

Stomp the Yard - This program is designed by the City of Cedar Hill, Cedar Hill Police Department, Zula B. Wylie Library, and CHAT in an effort to deter bullying, fighting. The objective is to create an environment for physical activities as well as develop positive social skills for our youth.

Uniform Drive - Supports families who need assistance with Uniforms for their children who must adhere to CHISD dress codes.

Rocket Science Project -This program will begin in September 2015 and will support science teachers’ science supply needs. Project developer- Altha Moore

Science and Engineering - This program was developed by Roz Grimes in partnership with CHAT with the objective of introducing students to hands-on-tasks in science and engineering. This STEM Enrichment program teaches students the Engineering Design Process, provides hands-on experiential learning for students’ ages 4-14, and features curricula such as:

* Aerospace Engineering

* Chemical Engineering

* Civil Engineering

* Electrical Engineering

* Electronic Game Design and Software Engineering

* Marine Engineering

* Mechanical Engineering

* LEGOs Robotics

The Engineering for Kids programs:

* Help children build problem solving skills.

* Encourage kids to discover how things work.

* Increase kids’ desire to explore engineering as a career option.

* Motivate kids to learn math & science concepts by engaging them in real-world engineering problems.
