Catholic Charities OASIS program is looking for individuals to assist the elderly in the Camarillo area with their grocery shopping needs. Grocery shopping assistance volunteers help homebound seniors maintain an independent lifestyle. Seniors pay for their own groceries. Duties include: Calling the client to set a date and time to grocery shop. Driving Client to and from the grocery store. Assisting the client with their shopping needs while at the grocery store. Assistance may include but is not limited to pushing the shopping cart, reading the labels, reach items on top shelves, help bag the groceries, loading groceries on car, carrying groceries into clients home. Volunteers develop close bonds of trust and friendship with the client through their personal contact. Weekly time commitment is between 2 to 4 hours.
