Mission Statement
The Advocate lives the gospel of Christ and is a welcoming community dedicated to spiritual enrichment, human services, community programs and the pursuit of social justice.
Description
One of the most unique places of worship and spirituality in Philadelphia is found here within the walls of this century old French Gothic National Historic Landmark that is the Church of the Advocate. The congregation is small, yet diverse, vital and visionary. People from all walks of life and all parts of the world have worshipped and found comfort in the services offered here.
The church takes seriously its name and never waivers from its mission to serve the underserved and to nurture a tradition of social service and advocacy on behalf of justice. It pursues an ambitious agenda that seeks to heal and strengthen those who have been overlooked.
Programs and services include after school programs, a soup kitchen and clothes closet, youth basketball and family-focused support.
