Mission Statement

The mission of the Chill Foundation is to provide opportunities for underserved youth to build self-esteem and life skills through snowboarding and other board sports.

Description

The Chill Foundation is a private operating foundation of Burton Snowboards. Founded in 1997 in Burlington, VT by Jake and Donna Carpenter, the owners of Burton Snowboards, the Foundation brings snowboarding to youth who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity. Chill has had such an immediate and profound impact, and we have continued to expand into new cities, new board sports and new countries over the past 17 seasons. Chill currently operates in 13 cities in the United States and Canada: Boston, Burlington, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York City, Portland, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver, and Washington D.C.

Since our inception, Chill has positively impacted over 18,000 underserved youth. Our programs strive to provide outdoor educational experiences that pair character development and life skills with the process of learning how to snowboard or engage in other board sports. We want to help bridge the opportunity gap many youth experience based on their personal situations.
