Mission Statement

To create meaningful opportunities for people to give back to their community, learn more about what it is like to work in the public mental health field, gain valuable hands-on training and experience, and serve as an example of wellness, resiliency, and recovery.

Description

Since early 2013, the MHSA Volunteer Program has been providing individuals a chance to give back to their community while gaining valuable work experience. The Volunteer Program provides an opportunity for people to enrich their lives and the lives of others by serving as a living example of wellness, resiliency, and recovery.

Participation in the MHSA Volunteer Program is designed to also provide knowledge of the public mental health system and to help build employment skills. MHSA Volunteers will also have access to hands-on training programs that provide the skills and education necessary to meet the qualifications listed for entry-level public mental health employment. Participants may choose to volunteer occasionally at community events and/or on a more regular basis.
