Mission Statement
"To create vibrant and healthy communities by developing, financing and operating affordable, program-enriched housing for families, seniors and people with special needs who lack the economic resources to access quality, safe housing opportunities" - Mercy Housing
Description
Decatur Place Apartments is managed by Mercy Housing and offers 2-year transitional housing and a self-sufficiency program for low income single parents. We have 106 resident families headed by either a single mother or a single father. These families have a total of 165 children. Many parents apply themselves to further their education by attending GED classes, vocational training or college. If not in school, many are working full time to stabilize the family's finances. Some work and attend school and find time to parent. Their goal is always to better their familys' situation even as they face financial, parenting and time challenges. We are always looking for volunteers who can donate their time and talent to enrich these families' lives. We welcome volunteers who can help with academics, recreation or other needs.
