Mission Statement

The Tatweer Project is an initiative of JFS Seattle's Refugee & Immigrant Services that provides foreign educated refugees the support they need in order to achieve their professional goals.

Description

Over the last few years, the Puget Sound area has seen an increasing wave of refugees that come to the United States with advanced degrees and years of experience in their field. Yet, upon arrival, it is very difficult for these highly skilled refugees to find jobs in their field of expertise.

The Tatweer program was created to comprehensively address the needs of this group: connecting them to experts in a number of career pathways, teaching the soft skills saught by U.S. employers, and expanding participants professional networks. Mentorship is the central component of the Tatweer program. For refugee's the benefits of a mentor relationship are twofold: access to an industry expert and expansion of professional networks.
