Mission Statement
The Earl Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 is an all-volunteer rural fire department, located in Eastern Berks County, Pennsylvania, with a Truck Crew comprised of 33 active firefighters/emergency responders committed to the preservation of life, property and the scenic wild lands and wildlife habitats. In July of 1948 a group of individuals met for the purpose of forming a fire department that would serve to protect the lives and properties within Earl Township and surrounding areas. This dedicated group of individuals achieved chartered status as the Earl Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 on September 8, 1948. We are a privately owned (by the organization's members), Federal 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Organization with one site location.
Description
Our overall jurisdiction is primarily rural wooded areas. We lack fire hydrant systems and rely heavily on Compressed Air Foam System technology and natural water resources for fire suppression. We provide mutual aid to all requesting department(s) starting in Berks and Montgomery counties and serve in the South Eastern Berks County Association Tanker Task Force.
