Title: Fundraiser Reports to: Development Director Position Description: Working in conjunction with the development team, the role of Fundraiser is to solicit donations from companies, wealthy benefactors, trusts, foundations, and members of the public. The Fundraiser is responsible for building relationships and teaching potential donors about the work of the organization. Key Responsibilities: Raise funds for annual, capital, and other campaigns Regularly meet or surpass fundraising targets Research potential donors to gain insight into needs, beliefs and donation habits to understand how to position the organization to them Assist in brainstorming and creating new methods to raise funds for the organization Leverage technology and social media where possible to improve fundraising activities Assist in planning and coordinating events meant to raise funds Assist Marketing Department to create marketing materials to be used for the promotion of events and other fundraising pushes Analyze the performance of events and other fundraising activities for effectiveness and to identify areas where money can be saved Maintain complete and orderly records of donors Build upon existing donor relationships and form new donor relationships on a regular basis Complete projects as laid out in the annual development plan Other assigned duties: Attend and participate in all volunteer meetings Provide coordination and participation in fundraising activities

Position Description: The Student Sponsorship Coordinator oversees the coordination and administration of all US-based aspects of the student sponsorship program. This includes planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling program activities. The Sponsorship Coordinator will work closely with staff in Tanzania to provide assistance and understand current student needs. In addition, this position will lead outreach strategies to grow our sponsor base. Key Responsibilities: Develop a budget for the program Decide on necessary expenditures for the program Work with accounting to set budget controls Collect student information Establish regular contact with Tanzanian teachers and administrators Identify and enroll sponsors Identify prospects Engage with potential donors Participate in networking events Provide information on sponsorship program Maintain contact between students, sponsors, and the organization Set protocols for communications Administrate contact between student and sponsor Field questions from sponsors as necessary Control, analyze, and enhance the program Write reports on the program for management and for funders Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action to control the risks Monitor the program activities on a regular basis and conduct evaluations according to the program evaluation framework Report evaluation findings to the Executive Director and recommend changes to enhance the program, as appropriate Other Assigned Duties: Attend and participate in all volunteer meetings Provide coordination and participation in fundraising activities

Position The Board will support the work of Brighter Tanzania Foundation and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by BTF’s executive director (ED), the Board-ED relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific Board Member responsibilities include: Leadership, governance and oversight Serving as a trusted advisor to the ED as s/he develops and implements BTF’s strategic plan Reviewing outcomes and metrics created by Brighter Tanzania Foundation for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics; reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings Approving BTF’s annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions in conjunction with the board; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities Contributing to an annual performance evaluation of the executive director Assisting the ED and board chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members Partnering with the ED and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments Representing Brighter Tanzania Foundation to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization Ensuring BTF’s commitment to a diverse board and staff Fundraising Brighter Tanzania Board Members will consider BTF a philanthropic priority and make annual gifts that reflect that priority. So that BTF can credibly solicit contributions from foundations, organizations, and individuals, BTF expects to have 100 percent of Board Members make an annual contribution that is commensurate with their capacity. BTF is seeking a Board Member to serve specifically in the capacity of fundraising. This board member will be elected as the chair of the Fundraising Committee, and create a partnership with the Development Director in order to carry out the work of the committee. Fundraising Committee The Fundraising Committee's job is not simply to raise money. Instead, the Fundraising Committee is responsible for overseeing the organization's overall fundraising and, in particular, the fundraising done by the board. To accomplish this, its responsibilities are: To work with staff to establish a fundraising plan that incorporates a series of appropriate vehicles, such as special events, direct mail, product sales, etc. To work with fundraising staff in their efforts to raise money To take the lead in certain types of outreach efforts, such as chairing a dinner/dance committee or hosting fundraising parties, etc. To be responsible for involvement of all board members in fundraising, such as having board members make telephone calls to ask for support, and To monitor fundraising efforts to be sure that ethical practices are in place, that donors are acknowledged appropriately, and that fundraising efforts are cost-effective. Board terms/participation BTF’s Board Members will serve a three-year term to be eligible for re-appointment. There shall be no appointment limit. Board meetings will be held quarterly and committee meetings will be held in coordination with full board meetings. Qualifications This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about BTF’s mission and who has a track record of board leadership. Selected Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. His/her accomplishments will allow him/her to attract other well-qualified, high-performing Board Members. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications: Professional experience with executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector A commitment to and understanding of Brighter Tanzania Foundation’s beneficiaries, preferably based on experience Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of BTF’s beneficiaries A network of relationships suitable for recruiting donors to BTF, or gaining in-kind contributions to execute projects Service on Brighter Tanzania’s Board of Directors is without remuneration.
