Description

About Arts to Grow

Arts to Grow (ATG) is a non-profit youth development program partnering with schools and community organizations to bring classes in the arts to low-income youth. From September 2006 - June 2013, Arts to Grow has worked with 16 partner schools and community organizations serving 2000 kids living in Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, and Hoboken and Newark, NJ.

Founded in February 2005 by Mallory King, ATG offers youth ages 5-18 opportunities to participate in performing, visual, and literary arts programs under the direction of qualified teaching artists. We have programs in New York City and northern New Jersey at schools and community centers.

Arts to Grow helps young people grow intellectually, artistically, and socially. We focus on students who have limited access to arts programming either in school or during out-of-school time. Through engagement in the artistic process, we offer participants opportunities to learn how to work productively with peers, with adults, and independently. Our programs nurture creativity, critical thinking, and self-esteem, helping each participant to develop a love of learning.

Arts To Grow is a sustainable organization creating noticeable change in the lives of young people in the NYC area. The volunteer hours and opportunities are flexible. ATG's founder Mallory King is a model for professionalism in the non-profit sector and holds together a very strong vision for this organization.
