Volunteering with Feral Change is so rewarding, since I first started working with Sarah and all the great volunteers I have learned so much. Helping stray and feral cats in Oakland is vital both for the community and for the cats, there are so many ways to help and most take very little of your time. From visiting the cats and socializing, to opening your home as a foster, to learning TNR there is something for everyone.

Feral change is nestled in an artists workshop and as soon as you arrive you get a great feel from the place. I have learned so much about kitties since I have been volunteering here. Sarah (the head kitten) is lovely to work with and is reliable and ready to act on suggestions that one may have. What can I say about the cats? You watch as they become more comfortable day by day and rejoice when they have the chance at adoption and a forever home!

Feral Change is an unsung hero for Oakland street cats, and those not thriving at the local municipal Shelter, Oakland Animal Services. Cats are cared for at a very cool, friendly, artists complex, which is well tended, clean, and safe. Sarah, the "honcho", is the best, and you can't help but appreciate working with her. She'll guide each volunteer to the best situation, and cat/s who need attention and socialization. I've been doing feral cat work for a long time, and pull a lot of the unadoptables from OAS. It is very rewarding to see the un-socialized, shy cats, who have precious few options, get a chance to thrive at Feral Change, with some patience, love, and a setting outside the noisy, stressful shelter. If you love cats, and have some time to offer, you can make a big difference in helping cats like these get a chance at a life, and happy life. Check it out!
