In 1985 our first house opened. It was name MMAE'S Inn Hospitality House after the Mecklenburg Medical Alliance and Endowment generous help in getting the house built. A second HH was opened in St Johns Baptist church in 1992. In March, 2008 we closed these 2 houses and moved into the house we are in today.
Our new house has 22 bedrooms, a sunroom, well-equipped with a stocked kitchen and dining area, a children's area with age-appropriate toys, a computer station, wireless access and game room with lending library. Each floor features, laundry facilities and portable cribs for little ones. We can sleep 50 guests a night. We are full many nights and we have a waiting list. Our guests stay an average of 5 nights and we have about 225 guests a month. Each room costs us $60 a night, we ask our guests to pay a portion ($40) of the cost for their room, and we raise funds through grants, and donations. Over the 26 years, our 100+ volunteers and staff have greeted guests from 49 states and over 35 countries and over 40,000 guests have walked thru our doors.
Mission Statement
Hospitality House of Charlotte is a private, non profit organization that for 26 years has sheltered out-of-town families who have loved ones are in area hospitals.
