Description

International fund for Africa (IFA) is working in Ethiopia with the aim of widening the coverage of our program to other African countries. IFA focuses on nutrition, maternal & child health, rural and capacity development. Our programs target the poorest of the poor and makes difference in the lives of vulnerable whose household incomes are very little.

IFA has helped establish neonatal units in Addis Ababa hospitals, upgrade facilities by creating neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, and establish neonatal and pediatric services in rural hospitals. IFA organized a volunteer program for visiting U.S. doctors to deliver medical services and help improve neonatology training.

One of our current projects in Ethiopia is sustainable school health and nutrition (SHN) programs. The SHN program at the primary schools will increase the availability of a school-based nutrition and health service, address micro-nutrient deficiencies and improve health issues such as parasitic infection and poor hygiene practices. Our SHN secures its sustainability through a school income generating activities.

In recognition of its contribution IFA has received several Awards from various organizations such as Ethiopian Medical Association Certificate of Recognition, Certificate of Appreciation by Gandhi Memorial Hospital, and Certificate of Merit by Yekatit 12 Hospital, Certificate of Appreciation by Addis Ababa Health Bureau and Yekatit 12 Hospital and Circle of Compassion.
