Mission Statement
SPACE funds, facilitates and promotes arts and cultural uses of Magnuson Park for the public. We operate Magnuson Park Gallery, a public art gallery 2-3 days per week with many special events. We also operate a low-power FM radio station, SPACE 101.1.
Description
After working for nearly 20 years to make a permanent home for arts and culture in Magnuson Park (formerly a U.S. Navy base), we now have a roof over our head and are offering programming to the public.
We operate out of a public gallery in the historic west wing of Building 30 and seek funding to provide continual arts programming to the youth living in Solid Ground housing within the park. Solid Ground provides housing for people and families transitioning out of homelessness.
We also began broadcasting from our new low-power FM radio station in October 2017 and are working to leverage the many assets of the park's non-profit tenants and provide non-commerical programming by and for North Seattle's diverse communities, including arts, youth, history, science, environment, public affairs and more.
