Mission Statement

Landlocked Film Festival was created to support independent filmmaking by bringing the best of independent world cinema to the American heartland, by providing workshops led by experts in their fields, by fostering a dialogue between audiences and filmmakers, and by providing film artists the opportunity to network with their peers.

Description

A competitive festival that will celebrate its ninth birthday in August 2015, Landlocked presents independent movies from around the world. Thousands of audience members gather in Iowa City's historic downtown to watch diverse films, from two minutes to two hours long, from artsy experimentation to outrageous comedy, from heartwarming family stories to heartbreaking drama, from hard-hitting documentary to music video to amazing animation.

The ninth annual Landlocked Film Festival will take place in Iowa City from August 14 to 16, 2015. Iowa City is the perfect venue for a film fest, with its compact downtown location, its friendly and relaxed vibe, its boutique hotels and diverse restaurants, and its cultural standing as the home of the world-renowned Iowa Writers' Workshop and one of only eleven cities worldwide designated as a UNESCO City of Literature.
