We empower adults by providing them high-quality, competency-based reading literacy and basic education programs to enable them to develop the skills to obtain their diploma and/or to function independently and successfully in higher education, the workplace, and in society.

WHO WE ARE

I CAN is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), community based literacy organization founded by a former Hillsborough County Schools Adult Educator in 2002 to improve literacy in Hillsborough County . The organization is governed by a board of directors, financially directed by a certified public accountant, and managed by an executive director. I CAN Adult Learning Program opened in September 2003 to provide literacy and basic education services for under-educated adults.

OUR LEARNERS --- Adults age 18 and older with & without a diploma, Learners with low literacy & basic skills, Majority Economically Disadvantaged Ethnically Diverse, Employed, Unemployed & Under-skilled

Community Recognition : .........United Way of Tampa Bay 2006 Education Volunteer of the Year; 2007 Governor's Points of Light Award for Volunteer Service; and Bank of America Local Hero Award for Volunteer Service (William Channer, Math Tutor) Media Recognition ...............Feature articles in Tampa Tribune, Temple Terrace News, and Florida Sentinel Bulletin Newspapers; and adult literacy program featured on ABC Channel 28 - TV News and Fox-TV- Good Day Tampa Bay Morning Show.
