iOme (i-owe-me ... a better future) originated in Green Bay, Wisconsin and it works to raise awareness about financial security in retirement and its impact on the future social and economic well-being of our society. Our primary audience is our peers--college students and the so-called "Millennials."
Our work tackles an important (yet sometimes ignored) issue of financial security of our generation, particularly as it relates to retirement. Over the last few years, we have had a promising success in engaging thousands of young people across the country. Millennials from Green Bay, WI to Reno, NV to Blacksburg, VA have participated in our programs and, together, they have shared their ideas and voices with decision-makers in Washington, D.C. and beyond.
Through engagement with iOme, students learn about important financial and policy issues and are empowered to take action by collaborating with each other and sharing information with their social networks, speaking on behalf of our generation, and making changes in their own lives. For example, 70% of our participants save for retirement, which is 15% higher than the national average.
