Mission Statement
The Haven is an acronym for Helping All Veterans with Emergency Needs. Our mission is to provide services that will help homeless and at-risk veterans rebuild their lives through income and housing stability and targeted interventions to remove any barriers towards self-sufficiency.
Description
The Salvation Army Haven was established in 1994 at the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Healthcare center as an emergency housing program for veterans. The Haven caters to the needs of veterans with complex set of obstacles - shortage of affordable housing, low employability, chronic medical problems and mental illnesses such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, substance abuse and a need for social support networks. Every year, more than 2000 veterans are served through our various programs at The Haven.
The largest population of homeless veterans resides in the greater Los Angeles area. The Haven is committed to providing this population with housing and supportive services.
