Serving the community for over 110 years, the Appleton Public Library currently operates from an 85,000 square foot facility at 225 N. Oneida Street. Established under state law by the City of Appleton, the Library is governed by a nine-member citizen Board of Trustees.
1,600 people per day come to the Library to use the more than 405,000 items in the collections, get help with questions, attend programs and meetings or access the internet. Hundreds of others call or email every day and pages on the Library website are used 200,000 times each month.
The Appleton Public Library houses and serves as resource library for the Outagamie Waupaca Library System (OWLS), a federated system of sixteen member libraries. The Library shares an online catalog with over 50 other libraries in Northeast Wisconsin. Library card holders from any OWLSnet Library may request material from other libraries in the system.
