Description

The Humphreys County Drug Alliance was formed in 1985 as a sponsoring organization of local "Just Say No" Clubs in the county and worked close with the school system in other anti-drug endeavors for local youth and children. In 1993, the organization was granted a 501(c)3 non-profit status and began expanding it's anti-drug activities into the community. In 2003, the Alliance was awarded 5 scholarships to participate in a national coalition building effort sponsored by the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America called the "Greenhouse Program". Through this training, the Alliance was able to establish an ad-hoc committee in the county called Humphreys Empowerment Action Team (HEAT).

HEAT is the county level coalition consisting of several community members representing 12 major sectors required by SAMHSA guidelines. The coalition is governed by the 16 member Board of Directors of the Humphreys County Drug Alliance, Inc. Heat has been the recipient of the Drug-Free Communities Support Grant and the Tennessee SPF-SIG Grant.
